You can submit your application via our online booking system. You will be able to select your hall preferences on the form. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible. The sooner you apply the more likely you are to get one of your preferences. If you have friends who you want to stay together with, you can make a request on your application form.  After you have submitted the form, you will receive a confirmation email. An offer of accommodation will be sent by email approximately 3 weeks after you apply so keep an eye on your mailbox regularly (including your junk folder). Follow the instructions on the email to accept your offer.

Please note:  To stay in our halls of residence, you must apply online and sign a Tenancy Agreement with us. It is illegal to sub-let from a current UAL student in private. Do not pay your rent to another student as you may run a risk of losing money and not getting it back.

Acceptance and payment

Remember to read the Tenancy Agreement and Regulations carefully before you accept your offer online and make a payment. You can choose to pay the rent by setting up an automatic payment plan or by sending a bank transfer. Once you have signed your contract and paid your advance rent, deposit and administration feetotalling £510, you have completed the process.

For halls that are managed by our external Partners, follow the instructions given by your provider to accept your offer and make your payments to them directly.

Summer accommodation

During summer, some of our halls are open for the general public to book.

If your summer course starts in July/August, you may want to consider a room at Don Gratton House, Cordwainers Court, Will Wyatt Court or Sketch House at a discounted student price by entering the promotional code 'PRESESSIONAL' when you book online. This is a separate booking system, which is open to the general public and is different from the student application system mentioned abovePlease note that full payment must be made by card at the time of booking.

For further details and to book, please visit the summer accommodation webpage.

The end of your presessional stay

Your summer tenancy has a fixed end date.

By the end of summer, if you have accepted an offer to stay in the same hall of residence and the same room type for your main University course (2017-18), you should be able to continue to stay in your room.

If you choose to stay in a different room type or in a different hall for your main University course, we will try to keep you in our halls after the end of your summer stay and before your new room is ready.

When it is not possible to stay with us during this short period, we will offer advice and assist you to book temporary private accommodation until your main course accommodation starts. We will also provide a free taxi to pick you up to your temporary private accommodation and back to our halls when your new room with us is ready. Alternatively, if you choose not to stay in our halls of residence for your main course, we can offer advice and assist you to book temporary private accommodation until your next accommodation is ready.

We will contact you with more details after you have moved into our halls in summer.

Accommodation for your full time UAL course

We will start taking online applications for 2017-18 (your main University course) in May. There will be two new Halls of Residence (Emily Bowes Court and the brand new Gardens House) available to apply to. You should submit a separate application for 2017-18 and go through the acceptance and payment process again if you also want to stay with us for your full time UAL course. Please note, the prices for 2017-18 may be different from your summer stay.

Airport collection service

We offer a one-off airport collection service if you are a student coming to UAL for the first time from non-EU countries.

Private accommodation

If you choose to live outside of UAL halls, our dedicated Private Accommodation Adviser can give advicand even read over your new housing contract. Visit the ‘Private Accommodation’ webpage for a range of useful information about renting privately.

Remember, please do not try to book private accommodation before you come to London. You must come to London first as you will need to view the property before you pay any money for it. You need to check it is good for you to live in, and landlords are also required by law to meet you in person before they allow you to move in. If you are considering living outside of halls, please contact our Private Accommodation Adviser at private.accom@arts.ac.uk for advice.
