Project summary

The overarching objective of the INTERACT programme is to link coursework, studio practice and work integrated learning (in a cross-cultural setting) to develop better graduate outcomes for future practitioners in the field of Interaction Design.

40 BA Students (20 from the EU and 20 from AUS) will participate in a full study and mobility programme comprising studio-based teaching with an emphasis on applied projects creative industry settings. All four institutions will provide mutual recognition of credit for the mobility period including internships and work integrated learning.

The pedagogical basis of the four participating institutions is ‘learning by doing’, which lends itself to studio-based teaching methods. In the INTERACT programme students will have the opportunity to experience a diverse range of studio models and themes, and will work with industry in the four locations.
Engaging in the programme provides students with a unique opportunity to expand their understanding of future Interaction Design practice through an embedded learning experience in diverse industry contexts. The course and internships offered as part of the INTERACT programme will all be credit-bearing.
INTERACT combines elements of the BA programmes of the 4 partners that cover the fields of Interaction Design, Communication Design, Visual Communication and Games and Interactive Entertainment offering unique combination of design and technology within a creative studio setting.

As an outcome students should achieve a practical understanding of a range of methods and next generation design tools that will allow them to think laterally and in an innovative manner to identify the most appropriate approaches to design issues when they become practitioners.
